Isaiah 66:13 says, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem"
The word “mother” comes with so much meaning. It’s used worldwide to describe women who are procreators of life, who walk alongside their children, and to shepherd their hearts. Mother means connection. It speaks of biology and describes those who mothered. Their role is irreplaceable.
Whether it be biological moms, first mothers, foster moms, step-moms, adoptive moms—all matter more than anything to the children entrusted to their care. Mothering is a special gift, a huge responsibility, and something God ordained from the start of human history.
It seems that God made mothers to be a multi-role creature. As Erma Bombeck says, “she is to have 180 moving parts and is suppose to have six pairs of hands.” Mothers are teachers. Mothers are disciplinarians. Mothers are homemakers (did you know the average American baby goes through 3,796 diapers?!) and housekeepers.
Some mothers are gardeners and mowers of lawns. And most mothers understand that baking cookies is more important than washing windows, too. Mothers are chauffeurs and coaches. Mothers are nurses, doctors, psychologists, and counselors long before getting such degrees in college. Mothers are developers of personalities, molders of vocabularies, and shapers of attitudes.
My own mother was a multi-role creature. She passed away at age 89 in Loma Linda, CA. But all through her life she always sustained me by her prayers. Thank God for mothers!
Mothers are soft voices saying, "I love you"; And mothers are a link to God, a child’s first Impression of God’s love. God knew in His great wisdom that He could not be everywhere physically. So He put His little children in a LOVING MOTHERS CARE.
